Mono-unsaturated Fats and the Heart

Did you know that there are good fats and bad fats? Pistachios are rich in the good fats and are part of a heart healthy diet.

You know, there are different kinds of fat in foods that can affect your health. We all know that saturated fats that are found in dairy products and red meats are bad for the heart. But other fats such as monounsaturated fats that are found in olive oil are very good for your heart, and they’re found in avocados and they’re also found in tree nuts, like the pistachio. It’s a rich source of monounsaturated fats. As a matter of fact, the Food and Drug Administration has issued a health claim, an approved health claim saying that all nuts, including pistachios, are heart healthy and can be helpful for your heart when eaten as part of a healthy low fat diet.
