Pistachios and the Weight Gain Myth
Pistachios are part of a healthy and active lifestyle and contrary to prior belief, studies show that nuts do not make you gain weight.
Pistachios are part of a healthy active lifestyle. Today, nuts are being positioned differently. You’re having a snack of a handful of nuts, which you’re going to take after you exercise in the setting of a healthy active lifestyle. So that’s the first thing. The second thing is - they don’t cause weight gain. This is a myth. And that’s a real eye opener for me. I went to a meeting on nuts and health at UC Davis a little while ago and the evidence is there now in the literature - some of it done at Loma Linda University and other places - where they give people servings of nuts during the day and say "here go ahead and eat these nuts." And they eat the nuts, a certain measured amount of nuts per day, and at the end of a certain period of just free living eating, they don’t gain weight. Their weight stays the same.
