A:

A serving size of nuts is 30 grams (about 1-ounce).  Pistachios have 49 kernels in a serving; (comparatively almonds have 23; hazelnuts 21; cashews 18; pecans 19; walnuts 14; macadamias 10-12).  For heart health, the FDA Qualified Health Claim for nuts recommends 1.5 ounces per day to possibly reduce the risk of heart disease.  For weight management, as little as a half of an ounce prior to or with a meal can help curb appetite and increase the feeling of fullness.
