Q:
I love pistachios but I think they’re expensive, and I am trying to be more cost-conscious of my grocery bill these days.

A:

At about 40 cents per 1-ounce serving, pistachios offer great nutritional “value,” as part of a heart-healthy diet.  They are also a favorable comparison, price-wise, to popular salted snacks such as ready-to-eat popcorn.  The healthy eating habits and food choices we make now will impact our health in the future.  Cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity are some of the most prevalent health concerns, yet largely preventable through healthy lifestyle habits.  A healthy diet – one that incorporates pistachios – is a large step in the right direction towards a maintaining a healthy life.
